'Motown the Musical' to take a break from Broadway; closing in January and to reopen in 2016

NEW YORK (AP) -- The musical about Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio is dancing to Broadway and you could earn a part in it - even playing Gloria.

Producers of "On Your Feet!" said Monday they will offer performers around the world a chance to audition for all the roles in the Broadway-bound cast by submitting audition videos online. There also will be two open casting calls - at Pearl Studios in New York City on Sept. 9 and at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami on Sept. 21.

The musical is due to begin previews in New York at the Marquis Theatre on October 2015 after a summer stop in Chicago. Jerry Mitchell, who directed "Kinky Boots," will helm the show, with Sergio Trujillo choreographing.

Gloria Estefan has won seven Grammy Awards and sold over 100 million albums, while her husband has guided artists including Shakira, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Jon Secada.
