BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- A pregnant woman was shot and killed at a home in Louisiana, but her unborn child was later delivered and is expected to survive.

WAFB-TV reports ( http://bit.ly/1HCKmke ) 29-year-old Brittney Mills was killed late Friday night after being shot multiple times in her upper body at a home in Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge Police said Mills may have opened the door to her assailant, who fled the scene.

Mills' unborn baby was later successfully delivered.

Initially the baby was listed in unstable condition, but then the baby's condition was upgraded to stable, authorities told WAFB.

Baton Rouge police were not immediately available for comment.
