NEW YORK (AP) -- "Dumb and Dumber To" gave Jim Carrey his best box-office debut in a live-action film since 2003's "Bruce Almighty."

The sequel, co-starring Jeff Daniels, opened with $36.1 million almost exactly 20 years after the original "Dumb and Dumber" hit theaters, according to final studio numbers Monday. The Universal release narrowly bested Disney's animated adventure "Big Hero 6," which took in $34.7 million in its second week of release.

The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Rentrak, are:
