ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Tobias Harris had 22 points and nine rebounds, Nik Vucevic added 18 points and the Orlando Magic defeated the Detroit Pistons 99-87 Friday night.

The Magic never trailed and built a 19-point, first-half lead. The Pistons closed within a point in the third quarter, but the Magic countered each time with their own spurts.

They outscored the Pistons 23-13 in the final period and finished the night 9 for 20 from the 3-point line.

Greg Monroe led Detroit with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Prior to tip-off Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy's received a sustained cheer from Magic fans in his first time coaching at the Amway Center since he was fired by Orlando after the 2011-2012 season.

The Magic play Philadelphia on Saturday in Allentown, Pennsylvania, when the Pistons are in Atlanta.
